Widget is an Steam Engine Train Technician on the Iron Tangle who works in Trainyard E. [1]

AI Description

Widget – Grease Gremlin – Level 19

Iron Tangle Steam Engine Train Technician.

Not all gremlins are bad or evil. Not all of them glory in the tearing of flesh and the rending of bone. Some prefer more quiet activities, such as boiler repair and heavy engineering. Then there are Grease Gremlins, who could go either way. The only thing keeping this guy from attacking you is that "Sensitivity Training" class human resources made him take in order to secure this job. As long as you don't abuse him or his beloved trains, you'll probably be fine.[1]

Description

Carl describes his accent as "Creole guy poorly attempting a cockney accent." Widget is very accommodating and friendly, though that might be due to Donut's high Charisma. [1]

Story

Book 3

Widget attaches to the roof of the Nightmare Express after Carl, Donut, and Katia drive the train to Trainyard E. He ziplines down the to car and states that the station is closed before realizing they are Crawlers. He asks how the engineer of the train and Fire Brandy are doing, to which Carl replies that Brandy is fine but everything else is dead.

Widget quickly explains that the Escape Velocity line runs backwards and can be used to get up to a stairwell station. A Festering Ghoul climbs onto the train and Widget waves his wrench at the creature. Donut hits it with a Magic Missile. Instead of dying, it simply goes Unconscious.

Carl asks why the ghouls are here and Widget explains that the system broke down. When Donut fires off another Magic Missile, Widget offers her some fish after he gets off his shift. He has Katia release some steam off the engine around the train to push back the encroaching ghouls, but right at that moment the fence around the ghouls falls over and a mass of them come into the yard.

Widget quickly unhooks the extra cargo platforms and goes to crawl up the chain to get back into his tower to use the turn table to switch the line they are on. Just then, the ghoul Donut had knocked Unconscious wakes up and rips his head off.
