Volteeg is a former crawler and author of the Dungeon Anarchist's Cookbook (7th Edition). They contributed only a single entry to the cookbook, in which they lamented the loss of a loved one.

I miss her. I miss her so goddamn much. Is it worth it? To survive this place with her gone? No. No, I don’t think it is.

This is Volteeg’s first, last, and only entry in the cookbook. Fuck everything about this place.[1][2]

Role in Book 7: This Inevitable Ruin

Volteeg returned to the dungeon during Faction Wars as a mercenary in the Operatic Collective team. His actions had a very significant impact on the outcome of the war.

During a POV chapter from his perspective, it was revealed that he initially entered the dungeon as a pet of another crawler, Mistress Henspar, who gave him an enhanced pet biscuit. He eventually took a deal on the tenth floor. Worked as guard at the Rampart Guild. Exited the dungeon after 26 seasons and took a job as a guard for the Operatic Banker’s Federation. This was mainly because outside the dungeon, if he spent too much time in a place with gravity heavier than half of his original planet, he would start to collapse in on himself due to his new race. In heavy gravity, he needed a brace just to stand properly.

Speculation

  • Note that this entry immediately precedes Carl's final interaction with Miriam Dom.
  • Although not mentioned by name in his entry, Volteeg is likely referring to Mistress Henspar, as he entered the dungeon as a pet of hers, and shows great sadness at her passing.[3]
