Entering Station and Repair Hub E [1]
Trainyard is station number #10 on the Iron Tangle.
Description
Getting to the Trainyard: Named trains driving on their loop eventually come to a set of three switches: a "Recycle" switch that leads to the Abyss Station, an "Auxilliary tracks. Warning" switch that leads to a secondary set of tracks, and a "Station Repair" switch that leads to the train yards. [2]
Fenced Train Yard: The train yard is massive, thousands of trains stretching out in all directions. There is a high fence around the yard, with thousands of ghoul like monsters milling about. The zombies are only in the fenced in section of the train yard. [3] The fenced in area is about a mile from portal to fence. [1] The ceiling of the trainyard is very high, higher than even the Over City. The place is lit with random spotlights and freestanding towers, like prison guard towers. [1]
Turntable: There is a baseball-field-sized turn table that allows trains to pull up and rotate into different service bays. A nearby watchtower controls the turntable. [1]
Substation:A three story building that looks like a Soviet-era building. This is where the NPCs work and the Dwarves and Grapples gather to board the trains. [1]
List of Train Yards
Train yard A: Supposedly ghoul-free, where the executive quarters are located. Does not exist.[1]
Train yard B: Where Doris, the Human resources manager of the Krakaren Clone (Fourth Floor) is located. The Festering Ghouls overran the yard. [4]
Train yard C: Carl sees this train yard looking through a portal at station 75. The station is a burned out mess. A pair of Wrath Ghouls roam the yard with a knocked over gate. [5]
Train yard D: This is the train yard that team Meadow Lark ends up at after using the Dwarven Industrial Light-Duty Automaton Contraptions to ride the rails back to the yards. The gate is down at this yard and the team holes up in the substation building. [6]
Train yard E: The massive train yard E is filled with zombie Cornets and various kinds of Festering Ghouls.[1] Outside the fenced in yard is The Iron Tangle Substation E, a three story building that looks like a Soviet-era building. Where Madison the human resources manager for the Kravyad used to be located. [1]
Train yard F: A group of crawlers at train yard F went to go blow the Blister Ghoul generator at station 72. They successfully blow the soul crystal, but all die in the explosion. [7]
Train yard H: Brynhild's Daughters immobilize a Kravyad and take a portal back to train yard H. [8] This is also the yard that Bautista's group of trapped crawlers goes through during the End of the Line Rescue. [9]
Train yard M: The Interdiction Rapid-Response Railway Repair Cart playing "Physical" pops into this train yard and gets automatically slotted into a dead end parking space. A group of crawlers there flip the cart over and use it as a defense of one of the stairwell stations.[9]
Train yard Q: Original train yard location for Bautista's group during the End of the Line Rescue. [7] The second Interdiction Rapid-Response Railway Repair Cart catches up to the first, sending the first cart (and all monsters and debris) into train yard Q. [9]
Story
Book 3
Carl first finds the Trainyard by looking through a portal in the Abyss Station. He is spotted by a Wall Monitor and has to leave the station. [3]
Train Yard E
Carl, Katia Grim and Donut take the Nightmare Express and Fire Brandy through the Station repair portal to try to find a way to get to earlier stations where the stairwells are. Upon entering the station, a notification indicates that they are at repair hub E, indicating there might be more stations out there. Due to the number of Stairwells on the floor, Carl supposes there must be at least 20 of these Train yards.
Widget the train technician attaches a chain to the top of the Nightmare Express and rappels down from a tower to talk to them. He gives them information on a couple of the train lines, unhooks the broken cars from the back of the train, then goes to climb back to his tower to move the turntable and get the train on a different track. Just as he's about to go, a Festering Ghoul rips his head off.
Donut climbs up the chain to move the train using the turn table controls. Once the train is lined up, she uses her Puddle Jumper Spell to return to the train. As they leave the train yard and pass the Iron Tangle Substation E, they rescue Madison and leave the train yard. [1]
