Crawlers may be accompanied by pets or by dungeon familiars.
Dungeon Familiars
Dungeon familiars entered the Dungeon from the surface and were assigned crawler ID's (e.g. Donut and Cici).[1] They did not meet the minimum required intelligence of 2 to complete the tutorial, so they were classified as "pets" by the System AI.
Dungeon familiars do not count as "crawler pets," but most pet rules appear to apply. The most notable exception is quantity; a crawler can have an unlimited number of dungeon familiars. [1]
Crawler Pets
Generally, crawlers are limited to one pet. Some race or class choices allow a crawler to have multiple pets, and a high charisma score may make it possible for a crawler to have multiples of a single species of pet.[1]
Pet-class mobs may be found in a Reward Room or purchased in a shop, but they always start at level one and remain level one until bonded. Once bonded, pets rapidly mature as they gain experience points and levels from combat.[1] After a crawler sufficiently bonds with a pet-class mob, the mob's dot will turn orange on the crawler's mini-map and the "Pet Menu" will unlock in the crawler's interface.[2]
Pets can be equipped with gear, armor, or magical items, and may be able to learn spells. If a pet kills a dungeon boss or another crawler, they do not receive stars or player skulls beside their names; it is possible but not confirmed that their owner receives the mark instead.[3]
Pet Menu
The Pet Menu allows a crawler to change the pet's name and title, and view the pet's stats, abilities, and health.[1][4] If the crawler and pet-class mob do not bond before the floor collapses, the crawler will have to leave the pet behind.[1]
Mounts
Mounts are creatures that Crawlers can acquire to ride. They can also be pets, but plain mounts tend to have low health points and little to no personality. When merchants sell mounts, they usually come with a Pet Carrier. Crawlers can have as many mounts as they want. Mounts tend to be expensive and you have to feed them. They don't level or grow stronger. [5]
