Party Mechanics

New Crawlers are automatically grouped into a "party" with anyone who entered the Dungeon at the same time and place as them.[1] The party member with the highest combined stat total is designated as party leader and has the ability to change the party's name and member's titles, as well as add and remove members.[2]

Beginning on the Sixth Floor, Borant Corporation introduces Guilds and restricts parties to 30 members or less. Larger parties are automatically broken up after the announcement.[3]

Experience Share

Crawlers in the same party share experience (EXP), which is necessary to level up.[1] The amount and distribution of experience share has not been defined in the books.

A few notes:

  • Carl, Donut, and Frank Q each receive 9.8 EXP from consuming a 10-EXP Experience Cookie on the First Floor, even though Frank Q's party consists of three members; this seems to suggest that 2% of a crawler's experience is distributed equally to other party members.[4][5] However, the third member of Frank's party may not have received the You've Killed a Mob! Achievement, which makes it possible to earn experience in the Dungeon, so this may be a moot point.[6]
  • Experience sharing must have a set cap, or parties like Le Mouvement would not exist.

Player Killers

The first party member to kill another crawler inside the Dungeon receives a Savage Box containing one PVP Coupon named for each member of their party. The second member of a party to kill another player does not receive the same item.[7]

Party Menu

After completing the Tutorial, crawlers can access the Party Menu through their Heads-Up Display (HUD).

The Party Menu allows crawlers in groups to manage their party and membership; use a party chat; and view each other's Stat, Health, Skills, and equipped items.[1][2] Crawlers cannot view their teammates inventories.

Party Chat

When a crawler first begins to use the party chat, a virtual keyboard materializes in front of them; however, most crawlers soon learn that they can simply focus on the chat window and think the words they want to send.[8][5] If two party members are split up, and one is locked into a boss battle, they cannot use the Party Chat to communicate with each other until after the battle is over.[9]

Continuity Note

The party chat described during the tutorial and used in the first book appears to be fully replaced by the Messaging Menu in future books.
