Ink Marauder Spell

If they’re as big and as numerous as you describe, it means her skill in that spell is likely over 15. They can fight. They’re gonna put on a hell of a show. -- Mordecai[1]

The Ink Marauder spell is a form of blood magic that allows the caster to draw something on paper with ink, cast a blood sacrifice, and bring those drawings to life as Blood and Ink Elementals.

Description

Certain classes, such as Summoner, can tattoo the monsters on their own skin. In this case, the caster's own blood keeps the minions alive on their flesh, and the minions can leave their body when they cast the sacrifice spell. While the resulting Blood and Ink Elementals have a 2D appearance, there's a rumor that certain sacrifices can create a complete, full-realized rendition of the monster.[2]

According to Mordecai, this is the spell Tsarina Signet casts to bring her tattoos to life.[2] Signet likely has 15+ levels in the spell and may only cast it once per day. The process requires her to guess in advance which participant of a duel will win; if she guesses correctly, the sacrifice's blood flows out of them and into her. The strength of her tattoos is determined by the "quality" of the sacrifice's blood.[3]

When casting, Tsarina Signet stands with her arms outstretched in a Jesus-pose. Her eyes glow and her tattoos swirl faster around her body. She holds that pose until the end of the fight between the two participants of the duel. If her chosen victor wins, the strength of the slain moves into her. If the sacrifice gets a life ending, all the blood will flow out of them. The caster cannot kill the sacrifice themselves. [3]

The caster cannot influence the fight at all. For example, the caster cannot choose an unconscious fighter to be the loser of a fight. If the caster attempts this, the spell doesn't work. [4]

Upon the death of the sacrifice, a line of red stretches to the caster, the blood streaming toward them. [2]

Story

Book 2

Signet first tries to cast this spell by pitting Carl against a Mold Lion. He uses his Protective Shell Spell to trap the lion and kill it, breaking her spell. [3]

The next night she puts Donut under her Water Lily Spell to blackmail Carl into upholding his promise to help her fight Grimaldi. She catches Heather the Bear and bets on Carl to win the fight. [4] She casts her spell, summoning her Blood and Ink Elemental army from her tattoos. [2]
