A death ray. Holy shit. I knew a little about those things.[1]
In the Dungeon, Death Rays are dark rays of light that render a living creature into a skeleton on contact. They have a very short range.[2]
It is unclear whether death rays are generally produced by items or spells, but they can be used as a monster's attack.
Speculation
- Carl encounters a death ray for the first time while fighting the Reminiscence Hydra of Malicious Compliance on the Eighth Floor. He knows a little about them, including their limited range, which suggests that he read about death rays in the Dungeon Anarchist's Cookbook.
