Production Trailers are small vessels inside the System AI's Enhancement Zones where crawlers are pulled to record footage for programs.
Description
Crawlers may be teleported out of the Dungeon after exiting stairwells or at pre-scheduled times to appear on Syndicate programs. For ease of recording in a massive galaxy, crawlers are filmed inside production trailers. Cameras are generally not visible during the recording process.[2]
The production company pays for the trailer in addition to the standard advertising stipend.[2] Cheaper trailers may be underground and inside the regular game Enhancement Zones, while more expensive trailers are floating above sea level in the planet's oceans. At this level, crawlers may activate certain equipped weapons but are unable to access their Heads-Up Display (HUD) or Crawler Menus.[3][2]
Production trailers typically have a small one- or two-alien staff and/or a robotic assistant on site when crawlers are aboard.[2][4]
Layout
Production trailers vary in size and shape based on cost. A cheap production trailer may be roughly the size of a walk-in closet, seemingly made of plastic, with no windows or doors, and only a few chairs cramped together.[4]
Nicer production trailers include at least three rooms: a "green room" where the crawler waits to begin filming, at least one recording studio, and a bathroom. On the first few floors, green rooms may include bowls of fruit or candy. Amenities vary based on the quality and price of the trailer.
Story
Book 1
The first time Carl and Donut appeared on Dungeon Crawler After Hours with Odette, the full production trailer was maybe 100 ft (30.48m) long, and the green room included a blue velvet couch and doors that opened and closed like camera shutters.[3][2] Although their menus are shut off, Carl is able to activate the Enchanted War Gauntlet of the Exalted Grull by clenching his fist.[3] He finds a single porthole window in the bathroom, but it is not made of glass and doesn't open.[2]
When the Royal Court of Princess Donut appears on Death Watch Extreme Dungeon Mayhem, they are transferred to a small production trailer owned and operated by Senegal Production Systems and attended by Mexx-55. Although it is above sea level and smells like salt water, it appears to be made of plastic, is cooler than the Dungeon, has no windows or doors, and Carl can touch the ceiling without effort. The film studio is projected onto the crawlers.[4]
Book 3
When Carl and Donut appear on Planet Beautiful, they are pulled into a lavish velvet covered room. The room is under the ocean and still within the zone of AI control, allowing Carl to access his Inventory. This is a security trailer owned and operated by Senegal Production Systems. Mexx-6000 explains Enhancement Zones to Carl and how the Borant Corporation cheaped out by using a less secure system. [5]
