Magic is everywhere in the World Dungeon: crawlers and mobs alike may cast spells using mana points or sheet music, equip enchanted items to gain special effects, brew and consume potions, and more. Crawlers may review their repertoire of spells in the Magic Menu.

New Crawlers
New crawlers enter the dungeon with nonmagical equipment and clothing, and do not know any spells. As crawlers are unable to access their Loot Boxes or inventory before completing the tutorial, most crawlers will not obtain magical items or learn any spells until after they find and enter a Tutorial Guild Hall.[1]
During the tutorial, the crawler's Game Guide teaches the crawler how to access the Magic Menu. All new crawlers learn the basic Heal Spell, and are instructed to place the spell in the first spot of their ten-item hotlist.[2]
Spell Mechanics
Spells are distinct from scrolls, which are consumable items that apply a magical effect. Crawlers must first learn the spell to use it, and then must exert energy (whether by spending mana points or singing) to cast it. Spells are trained and leveled similarly to skills.
Magic Menu
After completing the tutorial, crawlers may access the Magic Menu from the "Crawler Menus" option of their Heads-Up Display (HUD). The Magic Menu is "complicated as shit" and never fully explained, but crawlers may review their current spell levels and cast spells directly from the menu.[2]
Mana Points (MP)
In general, crawlers have a pool of Mana Points (MP) equal to their Intelligence. Mana Points are visually represented as a Mana Bar in the upper right of the crawler's vision, directly below the Health Bar.[2]
Crawlers spend mana points to cast all but bard spells, and naturally regenerate the points over time or with the assistance of items such as Mana Toast, Potion of Mana, or Good Mana Potion. A crawler with an Intelligence of (3) regenerates 1 MP per hour, whereas as crawler with an Intelligence of (17) regenerates 1 MP per minute.[2][3]
Learning Spells
With the exception of the Heal Spell, spells can only be gained from Magic Guildhalls, Tomes, or Sheet Music. Tomes and Sheet Music teach a single specific spell, and disappear when applied. Crawlers cannot learn spells that they do not have the ability or mana points to cast.[4]
Spell Levels
In general, spells have a maximum level of 15. A crawler's race or class may unlock the ability to train specific spells up to level 20, but only a few crawlers each season successfully train one or two spells up to level 16 or higher.[5]
As spells increase in level, the power difference between each level also increases. A level 15 spell is devastatingly powerful, but a level 16 spell may be four times stronger.[5]
Training Spells
For the most part, spells are trained and leveled up by using them. It's relatively easy to level a first floor spell up to 10 or 11 by the end of the third floor if you use it regularly, but training spells past level 10 or 11 is a slog, and becomes more difficult and time-consuming as the spell's level increases.[5] Crawlers may gain a boost from training in a Magic Guild.[6]

Types of Magic
Various Mobs and NPCs may specialize in specific types or schools of magic.
Anguish Magic
Anguish Magic is a type of dark magic that focuses and enhances damage from other attacks, such as by transforming a directional explosion into a focused blast. This magic is generally associated with Goblins.[7]
Bards
Bards rely on entertainment-based skills to cast spells, but do not need to spend mana points.[8]
Blood Magic
Blood Magic is a type of dark magic that requires a proper sacrifice to work.[9]
Heirloom Magic
Heirloom Magic is the strongest form of magic. This includes spells such as Water Lily and Final War.[10][11]
