Lutin

Crawlers may choose the Lutin race on the Third Floor. Lutins (or, if female, lutines[1]) are gnome-like creatures that specialize in support magic.[2]

Trivia

  • In French folklore, lutins are a sort of household hobgoblin and red dwarf that may cause mischief or braid horses' hair into elf-locks. A French fairytale describes a red hat with two feathers that can turn lutins invisible.[1]
  • In the Canadian province of Quebec, lutins may take the shape of common pets and particularly favor appearing as white cats. Good lutins may adjust the weather or shave a man's face on Sundays, while evil lutins may cause any number of minor troubles and pranks.[1]
  • In the American city of Detroit, Michigan, the Nain Rouge ("red dwarf") or "Demon of the Strait" is a legendary creature with roots in both French and Native American traditions. Its appearance is said to bring bad fortune.[3]
