King Rust

"Fuck ‘em. Fuck King Rust and his asshole child." Carl [1]

King Rust is king of the Skull Empire. He is husband to Queen Consort Ugloo and father to Prince Stalwart, Princess Formidable, and Maestro.

Story

Book 1

King Rust comes into Earth orbit right before the end of the Second Floor and doesn't comment on the Pork Boy Snick, but the Death Watch Extreme Dungeon Mayhem show is suspended. [2]

Book 2

After the Pork Boy Snick starts to cause unrest in the Skull Empire, drawing comparisons between the royal family and the hedonistic Orcish Supremacy, King Rust formally disowns the Maestro and tells his citizens to be quiet. [1]

Carl remarks that Mordecai said to poke at the king if given the chance, but he hadn't anticipated the way it spiraled out of control. Zev comments that he might have to disown Stalwart as well, leaving only Princess Formidable in the bloodline. Mordecai makes it a rule that Carl is not to mention outside entities anymore. His goal was to have the Skull empire target the Blood Sultanate on the Ninth Floor. [3]

Book 3

Princess Formidable sponsors Katia Grim on the Fourth Floor and Carl wonders if that means King Rust disowned Prince Stalwart for his botched assassination attempt. [4]

Book 7

SPOILERS FOR BOOK 7

As King Rust amassed forces outside of Larracos, he called for a formal parlay with Carl and Princess Donut. When Carl and Donut come out to meet him on the battlefield, under a protection bubble, he appeared to be crying and revealed to Carl and Donut about his daughter's declaration to forcefully activate the Earth system failsafe. He asks Carl for his help to dissuade her from activating the failsafe in exchange for telling the armies to retreat to their respective territories before the failsafe was triggered. Carl agreed, but on his way back to his army to relay his orders, King Rust was assassinated by a previously hidden Rosetta Thagra, who was seeking her own personal revenge.
