AI Description

Interdiction Rapid-Response Railway Repair Cart. Contraption.

Main Passenger-Line Gauged.

The main workhorse vehicle of the Hobgoblin Interdiction Team. Includes battery power or powered track selection option. Includes portal track selector. Includes dual-destination, selectable debris scoop.

When it comes to cleaning up a crashed vehicle on the tracks, nothing works better, faster, and more efficiently than the Hobgoblin Interdiction Team.

In the rare case of an accident on the Iron Tangle, one of these vehicles is immediately dispatched to clear the line.

This cart will move up a line at up to five times the speed of the regular passenger cars. The debris scoop will safely transport any active and running trains and their passengers back to the railyard. Once the wreck is reached, the debris scoop is switched to abyss mode, clearing the line of the damage. In case of a broken rail, the debris scoop automatically detects and removes anomalies and track breaches, allowing for the hobgoblins to do their thing.

Unfortunately, the corporation running the Iron Tangle has little trust for the hobgoblins and requires security to escort these vehicles at all times. As such, this cart may only be started by a pair of gnolls. [1]

Description

The Interdiction Rapid-Response Railway Repair Cart is larger than the Interdiction Auxillary Railway Repair Cart. The cart is a large flattop wooden and steel cart with 12 wheels. The cart has a section of open seating in front of a raised drivers cab accessed via small ladder, with an engine on the back. On the front of the train is a squeegee that can turn into a portal that acts as a cowcatcher for all debris on the track, tossing the objects to either a train yard or the Abyss Station. [1] These carts work about 5 times faster than trains. [2] It takes 10 seconds to flip between the Abyss and the designated Train yard. [3]

Story

Book 3

The Royal Court of Princess Donut finds 10 of the Interdiction Rapid-Response Railway Repair Carts at station 75. Carl realizes he can use this mobile portal to help the crawlers stranded at the Station 435, but first needs the hands of a Gnoll to operate. They check all the corpses at station 75, but then conclude that none of the bodies will work to turn the contraption on.

Growler Gary can't leave the bar and they need two bodies to make the train work. The cart also requires two left hands of gnolls to work. As soon as the hands are removed from the controls, the cart turns off. To get enough hands to make the carts move to the end of the line, Donut has Mongo kill the regenerating Growler Gary several times. [1]
