WHAT DO YOU MEAN. FRANK IS AN AMERICAN HERO.[1]
Frank Q is a crawler from Seattle, WA. He enters the dungeon with Maggie My, his ex-wife, and his daughter Yvette. He ambushes Carl and Donut in a safe room on First Floor and becomes the first crawler they find who has a Player Killer Skull. [2]
Description
Before the transformation, Frank Q worked for Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Seattle, WA. He entered the Dungeon with his ex-wife (separated for five years), Maggie My, their daughter Yvette, and Maggie's brother.[3]
Appearance
As a human, Frank is a lean, relatively good-looking middle-aged white man who probably stands around 6' tall and carries himself like a cop. He wears a Seahawks beanie on his bald head, a black t-shirt, filthy ripped jeans, and heavy boots. His voice is authoritative and cop-like.[2]
On the First Floor, he also wears: a belt of throwing knives; a massive, single-headed iron battle axe over his shoulder; and enchanted, glowing black metal shoulder pads with spikes. He carries a gun, but it is not visibly equipped and out of ammo. He has three Player Killer Skulls by his name. [2]
After race and class selection on the Third Floor, Frank looks like a purple-skinned elf creature. He is missing his right hand. His purple skin glows, reminding Carl of an eggplant. He wears a flowing black jacket, having ditched the spiked shoulder pads. He still wears the Seahawks beanie on his head. His front incisors are fangs. His eyes are hooded with deep rings. [3]
Story
History
The night of the Collapse, Yvette ran away and was picked up by Maggie's little brother, a deputy cop. He called Frank Q to come get her, and all four of them were in a parking lot when it happened. Yvette ran into the Dungeon, Maggie tried to chase after her but Frank pushed her. Maggie's brother started fighting Frank, and Frank eventually killed him, earning himself the That's the Spirit Box which contained the Enchanted Night Wyrm's Ring of Divine Suffering. [3]
First Floor
When Carl and Donut find Rebecca W's body on the First Floor, her corpse is tagged as "Killed by Crawler Frank Q."[4] Only a few hours later, Carl and Donut retire to a safe room that looks like a foreign DMV waiting area. As the next episode of Dungeon Crawler World: Earth airs, Donut heads to the bathroom and comes out exclaiming, "He's in the bathroom! The women's bathroom!"[2]
Frank Q claims to have been sleeping in the women's bathroom for the last twelve hours, and that he and his partner Maggie were ICE agents conducting a plainclothes stake-out at an oceanside warehouse full of undocumented Chinese immigrants before the transformation. Maggie was trapped by a surface-level stairwell, and five human traffickers led by Rebecca W followed them into the Dungeon. Maggie was killed in the ensuing shoot-out, Rebecca shot him three times before he killed her, and the last trafficker was devoured by Vine Creepers. As he talks, he eats an experience cookie and "+9.8 EXP" dings over his head, and Carl sees him pantomiming typing, as though using the Chat feature.[2]
Carl sends Donut a quick message warning her not to react just seconds before Frank pulls his gun and Maggie My emerges from the bathroom. Both Frank and Maggie are frozen by the System AI, and the Royal Court of Princess Donut rides off to safety after leaving a trap on a rat corpse.[2] As a result, both Carl and Donut receive the Bitchmeat! Achievement.[5]
Frank and Maggie appear again on Death Watch Extreme Dungeon Mayhem as the surprise guests for VIPs Carl and Donut. The show gives a recap of Frank and Maggie's journey through the dungeon. They enter the dungeon with a young girl. Their Game Guide is a Mind Horror who recommend they kill as many crawlers as possible to survive. [6]
The scene cuts to the teenage girl injured on the ground, but doesn't show how it happened. The girl cries that she's in pain, and Maggie strangles her until she dies. The scenes then jump around to show Frank and Maggie in a large group and introduce the teenager as their daughter Yvette. This group includes Rebecca W. When the group has their backs turned, Maggie and Frank open fire on the group. Yvette cries and asks them to stop. Maggie goes as far as to put a gun in Yvette's hand and tries to get her to kill a dying man. Frank and Maggie continue to hunt down other crawlers. [6]
The last part of the clip shows the ambush in the safe room on the First Floor, followed by Carl adding the Goblin Dynamite to the rat corpse. Frank, Maggie, and Yvette find the corpse and Frank pulls the lit stick of dynamite out, dropping it immediately. It goes off, injuring Yvette and cutting Frank's right hand off. [6]
Carl and Donut are horrified by the situation. Maestro attempts to lead a Q&A session about the situation, but isn't very good and the segment is a dud. To wrap up the show, Frank and Maggie are given a Legendary Level 15 Find Crawler Skill potion. [6]
Fourth Floor
On their third visit to the Desperado Club, Carl notices Frank Q sitting at the bar. He sends Donut away with the Sledge while keeping Bomo with him for protection. Carl notices he's only level 17, lagging behind the curve of the floors. [3]
Carl asks where Maggie My is, and Frank responds that he hasn't seen her since the second floor. They got into a fight about Carl and Donut. She ditches him before the second floor ends and he doesn't see her race selection. After that he floats between groups, but the Player Killer Skulls next to his name make it hard for players to trust him.
Frank smokes a Blitz Stick says he's going to avenge his daughter Yvette by giving Carl a present. He gives him the Enchanted Night Wyrm's Ring of Divine Suffering he received in a Legendary That's the Spirit Box for killing his brother in law.
"It’s like winning the lottery. Of course you take the money if you win. But it ends up ruining you. That’s what this did to us, and that’s what this will do to you. That’s my revenge. It’s all I have left to offer. And it’s all I want. Knowing what happened isn’t enough. You need to understand. You need to feel it. You look down on me. I can see it. But you don’t understand. Fuck you, Carl. Take the ring."
After reading the description of the ring and the Marked For Death Skill, Carl realizes that Frank and Maggie let their daughter Yvette use the ring on Carl. Frank corrects him, saying they forced her to use it because she wasn't leveling up as she refused to fight. Yvette is later injured and Maggie kills her because she can't heal.
“You don’t understand what it means to be responsible for somebody. You don’t have a kid in here with you. You don’t understand what that responsibility means, what a weight that is on your shoulders. And when you fail, it’s like being crushed, constantly crushed, only you don’t die. And the pain never stops. It just keeps coming and coming.”
Frank then recounts how the group ended up in the dungeon before Donut shows up and tells Carl that it's time to leave. Carl asks Frank if Maggie took the Find Crawler Skill potion and he says that's what they were arguing about on the second floor. He wanted to sell the potion, but Maggie wanted revenge. Carl slips the ring on his finger, and Frank says "Vengeance is mine." [3]
After Carl leaves the club, Chris Andrews comes up to Frank at the bar and kills him. [7]
