The Escape Velocity was the name of the ship that discovered the worm-whole to the first system where a scientific crew investigating a primal ship graveyard came across the Vog generation ship. This eventually led to the creation of the Syndicate.

The backwards train on the Iron Tangle that leads to the Stairwells on the higher platforms is titled the "Escape Velocity". [2] Mordecai later explains the meaning of the name of the train. [1]
