Demons

TIn the Dungeon, Demons are a broad category of mobs and races closely tied to the lore of the "volcano levels." Demons generally inhabit Sheol on the Dungeon's Fifteenth Floor, where a matriarchal hierarchy of demons fight each other for control and the attention of one of the four brothers.[1]

While multiple mobs and crawler classes are considered demon spawn, half-demon, or hellspawn, true demons appear to be categorized as Lesser Demons, Minor Demons, and Superior Fire Demons.[2][1] In all cases, demons are associated with fire.

Subtypes

Demon Spawn

Races such as Incubi are considered "demon spawn" for Dungeon, potions, and crafting purposes.[2]

Lesser Demons

You got the lesser demons, who are generally normal, though I wouldn’t break up with one over text or call her fat or anything like that.[3]

Lesser Demons are lower level, working class demons that typically power steam engines, castle heating systems, and more. They are less powerful and generally more reasonable than Minor Demons.[1]

Minor Demons

Minor Demons are more powerful than lesser demons, but less powerful than Superior Fire Demons.[1] Similar to gods, they seem to expand to fit the space that they are summoned into.

Superior Fire Demons

Superior Fire Demons are notorious for their strength, instability, and ability to wreak havoc. Generally, Superior Fire Demons must be chaperoned by Hellspawn Familiars to protect them from themselves and each other, and the Hellspawn Familiars are in turn protected by items such as the Enchanted Nipple Ring of the Superior Fire Demon’s Hand Maiden.[1]

Lore

During the original Celestial Ascendency, many demons were captured and exiled to the Nothing.[4]
