D'nadia

D'nadia is a Saccathian and Princess-turned-Empress of the Prism Kingdom, a smaller Sac government in Syndicate space.[1]

Description

Although her kingdom is small, D'nadia is known as "a powerful force in certain trade circles" and for being outspoken. She is a regular guest on Danger Zone with Ripper Wonton, and has strong opinions on intergalactic politics.[1]

Appearance

A Saccathian, D'nadia is roughly human-sized and has bumpy gray skin and webbed claws. Squid-like tentacles dangle from "her cephalopod face" and trumpet when she's amused. She wears long, flowing dresses. Her hands are webbed claws. [1] When she cries, black oily tears flow down her face. [1]

Story

Book 2

Carl and Donut first meet Princess D'nadia on the Third Floor, when they appear on Danger Zone with Ripper Wonton and she specifically asks to sit beside them. She repeatedly attempts to grab Carl's hand with her webbed claws, even though he is only a hologram, and publicly supports the Valtay against the Borant Corporation. While Donut is absolutely charmed by her public persona, Carl is disgusted how D'nadia considers the murder of Manasa to be a tragedy and not consider the crawl to be the same. [1]

Book 3

SPOILERS FOR BOOK 3

D'nadia becomes Princess Donut's sponsor during the Fourth Floor Iron Tangle.[2] She gifts Donut a Benefactor Box containing the Prism Industries Capacitating and Focusing Goggles[3], which allow Donut to see the Dirty Little Phased Bolts that Hekla uses to try to kill Katia Grim, saving the latter's life.[4]

Book 4

SPOILERS FOR BOOK 4

On the Fifth Floor, D'nadia sends Donut another Benefactor Box on the 5th floor that upgrades the goggles. The new heat vision setting allows Donut to determine which Dromedarians in Hump Town are actually Changelings in disguise.[5]

Book 5

SPOILERS FOR BOOK 5

D'nadia is next seen judging the Pet Beauty Contest and Talent Show at the Butcher's Masquerade on the Sixth Floor. She informs Donut that her father passed away and she is now Empress D'nadia.[6] She spends most of the party getting drunk and talking to Tsarina Signet, as the NPC gradually realizes her entire reality is constructed.[7]

At the end of the Butcher's Masquerade, Carl reveals that Empress D'nadia purchased a spot in the Ninth Floor Faction Wars, nearly blocking Princess Posse from being able to purchase their own spot.[8]

Book 6

SPOILERS FOR BOOK 6

D'nadia ended her sponsorship of Donut on the Eighth Floor (Ghosts of Earth), citing a conflict of interest given their opposing sides during Faction Wars.[9] Still, she stays friendly with the cat during the pre-production meeting.

D'nadia attempts to circumvent the warlord voting system by proposing Emergency Action Items that run directly contrary to the Princess Posse's goals: deleting all NPCs from the ninth floor, disallowing crawlers from participating in Faction Wars, and removing the Princess Posse and/or killing Carl and Donut. The System AI rejects all three proposals, but Odette shows Carl and Donut the notifications and they learn of her betrayal. Donut finally realizes that D'nadia is not the friend she pretended to be.[10]
