A Control Sigil is a Dungeon mechanic used by the show runners to program specific actions.

Mordecai Description

“That’s a control sigil. Only you can see it because of your Escape Plan Skill. They’re mostly used by secondary programs, like Vengeance of the Daughter. But they’re sometimes used by the dungeon creators, too. I don’t know too much about this stuff, but I know their use is considered sloppy programming because they’re easy to break. Sigils have all sorts of uses, but they’re typically for controlled gating. They can stop a specific type of mob from passing the symbol. They can be turned off and on by the showrunners, not the dungeon AI, which is why they use them. If it’s blue, it means the symbol is turned on. It will have no effect on you.”

Appearance

To those who have the Escape Plan Skill, a Control Sigil looks like a glowing circle that "looks like something used in a Satanic ritual mixed with the text from Frodo's One Ring". To anyone else the sigil doesn't show up. [1]

Story

Book 3

Carl sees a control sigil on the floor of station 116 in the Iron Tangle at the entrance to the room containing the two Dwarven Industrial Light-Duty Automaton Contraptions. [1] Elle and Imani mention how only the Festering Ghouls can get into the room, probably due to the sigil gating the door. [2]
