Carl's Jug O'Boom

“Carl, look, they named it after you!”
“Yeah, Donut. I see that."[2]

Carl's Jug O'Boom is Carl's take on a Dungeon Molotov Cocktail.

AI Description

Carl’s Jug O’ Boom
Type: Incendiary Tossable

Effect: When lit and tossed, results in a small explosion, followed by burning splash damage over a wide area. Flames will burn for 15 seconds per level of attacker’s level of Incendiary Device Handling Skill.

Status: Inert until torch is activated.

Created by an unstable, pantsless man who talks to a cat, Carl’s Jug O’ Boom takes the bigger-is-better approach when it comes to hobgoblin fire bottles. Burns hotter, bigger, and faster than your normal Molotov Cocktail. The use of a standard torch instead of a cloth wick makes these devices much more stable. Just don’t drop it once it’s lit, lest you find yourself doing a Joan of Arc impersonation.[3]

Description

Carl's Jug O'Boom is crafted by emptying a clay Rev-Up Toilet-Grade Moonshine jug to about 3/4 full, adding a few ounces of Goblin Oil, and corking the bottle with a Torch. The crawler only has to look at the Torch, select "Activate" in their Heads-Up Display (HUD), and throw the bottle.[4]

On impact, the jug shatters and an "insignificant" explosion causes crackling, angry, glowing blue flames to splash like water over a wide area and up to the ceiling. When the fire dies out, it leaves nothing but "blackened, crumbly husks of bodies and ash" and the odd smell of whiskey and toast. The burned bodies cannot be looted.[4]

Story

Book 1

Creating this device earned Carl the Dungeonpreneur Achievement. [5]

The recipe for Jug O' Boom was featured on the recap episode and added to the Dungeon Codex. Carl will receive one gold coin for every kill with this device by other crawlers. Two gold plus a 25% fee, rounded up, is deducted upon cash out. Royalties from this recipe indicate that at least one other crawler has access to Rev-Up Moonshine and has used it to craft this recipe . [6]

Carl and Donut use the jugs to great effect on the Second Floor, burning corpses to prevent Brindle Grubs from advancing to further stages. Carl uses the jugs in multiple boss battles, including against the Krakaren Clone (Second Floor) and Ralph. [7]

Book 2

Carl uses a Jug O'Boom against some Former Circus Lemurs on the Third Floor. [8]
